Newlyweds David and Ashley Briscoe have just moved from Atlanta to Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Wanting to explore their new home, they drive down River Road one night and see a plantation home named “The Cottage.” Illuminated by candles and decorated for a fancy ball, the house looks warm and inviting. Curious, David and Ashley stop to take a look and are unexpectedly welcomed by women in gorgeous, hoop-skirt gowns and men in elegant evening attire.
After enjoying a wonderful night at the ball, the two meet a reporter at breakfast who tells them that The Cottage burned down in 1960. Thinking the reporter is trying to trick them, they drive out to the house and find nothing but ruins. Ashley and David are mystified.
Ashley decides to do some detective work and delves into the history of The Cottage. What she finds out is startling—a mixture of voodoo, vampires, and unfeigned love. But when she realizes the connection to her own family, little does Ashley know that discovering the truth may put her life in danger …
